There’s not much to say other than that this is just your regular, typical blog. I write about the things I like, and put down what comes to mind. This blog has no other purpose than to contain the things I feel like putting in it.
My name’s Julia (Jūlija) Gifford, born Canadian, and living in Latvia. I feel very fond of my Latvian roots, hence an entire section devoted to all that’s Latvian. I love to cook (which very probably stems from a love to eat), so you’ll see a lot of my everyday meals. I hate recipes, and typically don’t use them. I’ll try to outline what I’ve made and with what.
I quite enjoy writing, which is what I do on a daily basis over at the Draugiem Group (a Latvian tech incubator, home of last-standing European social network, Draugiem.lv).
Here’s a sampling of my writing that has made it into some more prominent publications:
Mashable, The Daily Muse, Business Insider
Habits of the top productive employees: work 52 minutes, break 17 minutes
Venture Beat
Infographics are dead. Long live webgraphics.
ReadWriteWeb
We Tested Standing Desks. Here’s Proof They Make You More Productive
Remote Work: Does Telecommunting Really Work?
And some possibly very embarrassing interviews:
The Work Talk Show podcast on…life
Smoking Hot Coffee video interview on startup marketing (omg I totally didn’t know it was going to be a video interview!)
Luna Vega’s podcast on getting started with e-commerce
